August 9, 2022 — VELA Education Fund today announced the launch of a $750,000 fund in partnership with the Daniels Fund to provide support for education entrepreneurs in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.
New Mexico is ranked last in the country for preK-12 education, so Dr. Mona K. Koerner, a mom and PLANT’s founder, is trying to forge an alternative way forward – what she calls a network model of education.
Schelastic serves about a dozen students from 3rd-12th grade, though most are middle and high school-age learners. Grouped by age, not grade, these learners receive an individualized education that meets them where they are and allows them to proceed at their own pace, making it an attractive learning environment for students of all backgrounds.
MySchool is an interactive map that includes more than 2,700 locations across the country “to empower each community to come together to build out their local learning landscape.”
Black Homeschoolers of Birmingham focuses on connecting families with each other and offering encouragement, guidance, and access to information.
